What are the different types of prostheses?
The cost of a prosthesis depends on various factors.
We train you in the everyday use of your prosthesis.
Since 1998, we have been manufacturing highly customized assistive device solutions in our in-house silicone laboratory. We were the first company in Germany to manufacture silicone fittings for both the lower and upper extremities. The innovation driver to this day is our managing director Michael Schäfer, who founded and built up the silicone department of Pohlig.
Silicone can be used excellently in the area of the upper extremity. Thanks to the supple and resilient properties of the material, excellent solution options are available even for the most difficult fitting cases.
If an inconspicuous, lifelike cosmetic is desired, our silicone experts can reproduce even the finest details, such as pigment spots, small hairs, veins, birthmarks or prominent skin structures. By integrating different shades layer by layer, we approximate the original skin tone exactly. The overall appearance of the prosthesis is rounded off by a detailed replica of the fingernail made of acrylic resins or silicone. The result not only looks deceptively real, but can even be colored with nail polish.
In order to provide you with an individual fitting at the highest level, we follow the quality guidelines according to the VQSA (Verein zur Qualitätssicherung in der Armprothetik e.V.). They define how a state-of-the-art prosthetic fitting of the upper extremity should be ensured.
The permanent further development and research of innovative concepts is an integral part of our daily work. This also includes active participation in national and international congresses, regular publication of technical articles and close cooperation with various research institutes and companies.
Our goal is to find the optimal assistive device solution for you. We achieve this not least through the permanent exchange of know-how with our partners from the Ottobock PatientCare Network. As the world market leader in prosthetics, Ottobock stands for high-quality and technologically outstanding products and services in medical technology. We are proud to be part of the global Ottobock family.
