Susanne has had multiple sclerosis (MS) for 28 years. When she wears the Exopulse Mollii Suit soft orthosis for an hour a day, she has less pain and can sleep better at night without waking up due to spasticity.
The full-body suit uses the principle of electrostimulation. Because Susanne's stiff muscles relax as a result of the stimulation, she is more mobile overall in everyday life and can move her partially paralysed left side of her body better.
There are many different types of muscle diseases. Often their cause lies in the nervous system or a faulty signal transmission between nerve and muscle. Neuro-orthotics is primarily concerned with combating such muscle diseases. Aids that fall into this special field of orthotics range from sensorimotor insoles to whole-leg orthoses with electronically controlled knee joints (C-Brace®).
A particularly revolutionary innovation is the new Exopulse Mollii Suit soft orthosis. The full-body electrostimulation suit, which looks like a neoprene suit, was developed for patients suffering from spastic paralysis (i.e. increased inherent muscle tension) and other neurological movement disorders.
By releasing spastic, cramped or painful muscles with gentle electrical impulses, the suit can reduce pain and reactivate important muscles. Many sufferers show a more fluid gait pattern thanks to the Mollii Suit. They have less pain and can be more active in their daily lives.
The one-piece suit is equipped with 58 electrodes positioned to stimulate up to 40 major muscles. After the user puts on the soft orthosis like an ordinary piece of clothing, we adjust the electrodes individually via a control.
The low-frequency electrical stimulation can relax the muscles and reduce spasticity. How does it work? Spasticity causes cramping movement disorders because there is an inhibited balance between the player (agonist) and the opponent (antagonist). The Exopulse Mollii Suit stimulates the antagonist of the spastic muscle. The increased blood circulation can restore the inhibited balance between the muscle pairs. For example, if the biceps cramp, the suit stimulates the triceps to relax the biceps. Relaxing the spastic muscle can allow the patient to engage in active movements and lead to a gradual improvement in function.
So far, a variety of positive effects of the Exopulse Mollii Suit have been observed:
A positive side effect: To reduce spasticity, many patients need central depressant medication with corresponding side effects. By using the Exopulse Mollii Suit, the dose of medication can be reduced if necessary after consultation with the attending physician.
Numerous testimonials from our users show: Thanks to the Exopulse Mollii Suit, an almost physiological movement can be achieved.
Louisa was finally able to free herself from her multiple sclerosis-related spasticity symptoms with the help of the electrostimulation suit. Her new superpower: the feeling that everything is possible again!
Cramped, stiff, painful or uncontrollably twitching muscles are the consequences of spastic paralysis and other neurological movement disorders.
The Exopulse Mollii Suit can be used successfully for the following symptoms or diseases:
The Exopulse Mollii Suit is suitable for both children and adults. The soft orthosis is available in children's, women's and men's sizes from size 104 to XXXL.
It cannot be used with electrical implants or medical devices that are influenced by magnets (e.g. pacemakers, ECG).
In the case of the following indications, a doctor must certify that the Mollii Suit is safe before testing:
You are welcome to try out the Exopulse Mollii Suit with us - without obligation and free of charge. During a two to three hour appointment at Pohlig in Traunstein, we will first discuss your personal goals and expectations. Then we record a video documentation of your movement disorder without stimulation. For this purpose, we set you simple tasks, such as standing up, walking, grasping etc.
This is followed by the individual adjustment of the Exopulse Mollii Suit and 60 minutes of muscle stimulation. In a final test, in which you perform exactly the same tasks as before, we check whether anything has improved significantly as a result of the stimulation.
If you experience positive reactions and effects from this first test, you have the option of borrowing the Exopulse Mollii Suit for a trial period of 4 weeks. In this case, you will also receive a diary in which you can document your impressions and experiences with the stimulation suit. It is important to us that every user can experience the positive effects of the Exopulse Mollii Suit in everyday life before they are fitted with it.
The Exopulse Mollii Suit should be worn for one hour every other day. However, the wearing time may vary from person to person. Please consult your orthopedic technician about this.
Although the muscle stimulation only lasts 60 minutes per session, it can have a positive effect lasting up to 48 hours. In general, the effectiveness of the Exopulse Mollii Suit improves with regular use.
After the test phase, there are basically two options:
Please note that there is a fee of 249,90€ for the approx. 2-3 hour test appointment.
