Thread the Ottobock dressing aid through the socket valve. Make sure that the last piece of the donning aid is not pulled through so that you can put it over your residual limb. To do this, gently press the donning aid inward and form a pocket into which the end of the residual limb is placed. Now you can position the residual limb in the socket. It is important that you align the soft parts of your residual limb optimally. Make sure that the contour of the residual limb is exactly adapted to the contour of the socket.
Now slowly pull out the Ottobock dressing aid from the socket. You can then optimize the fit of the socket again by placing the soft parts on the edge of the socket.
Now close the socket by locking the valve. Now you can turn the required gripping component onto the prosthetic socket. Finally, switch on your prosthesis at the push button.
Apply lubricant evenly to your stump. Now you can slip into the socket.
Optimize the fit of the socket by placing the soft parts at the edge of the socket. Wipe off the excess lube on the socket rim with a towel.
To tighten the silicone liner, you must first turn it inside out. Place the liner at the end of your residual limb and roll it towards your upper arm. It is important that you position the liner the same way each time you put it on so that the electrodes in your prosthesis are always in the same place.
Align the two Velcro fasteners on your liner so that you can thread them through the slot in the prosthesis socket. Close the Velcro closure of the silicone liner with the socket. Now you can switch on your prosthesis.
To tighten the finger prosthesis, evenly spread some Vaseline into the shaft of the prosthesis or apply it to the stump of your finger. As an alternative to Vaseline, you can also use ultrasound gel.
Now slip into the finger prosthesis and smooth out any remaining air between the skin and the prosthesis from top to bottom. In this way, you achieve an optimal fit of your finger prosthesis.
When removing the prosthesis, it is important to first leave air between the skin and the finger prosthesis by carefully lifting the silicone at the edge of the prosthesis to form a small air channel. Now the finger prosthesis can be removed without any problems.
To put on your hand prosthesis, you should first apply a donning aid to the affected hand or residual limb. Ultrasonic gel or perfume-free Vaseline is suitable as a donning aid. You will usually be given a suitable donning aid when your finished prosthesis is delivered.
Once the gel or Vaseline is evenly distributed, you can put on your hand prosthesis. It may happen that the skin is slightly displaced or pulled into the socket. To avoid feelings of tension or even pain, you can easily massage the affected area of skin out of the prosthesis socket. As soon as the prosthesis is in the correct position, the excess dressing can be wiped off with a cloth.
We show you how to clean an arm prosthesis. If you wear a silicone liner, you will also find information on cleaning a liner.
